Housing 21 has acquired seven extra care schemes for older people from Notting Hill Genesis.
The extra care schemes, which consist of 427 properties in London, are Elgin Close, Mildmays, Penfold Court, Conrad Court, Cheviot Gardens (pictured), Mitchison Court and Turnberry Court. Minterne Apartments which comprises 60 apartments, will transfer from Notting Hill Genesis to Housing 21 in March.
Tony Tench, deputy chief executive at Housing 21, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome our new residents and colleagues. This transfer from Notting Hill Genesis is particularly exciting for us, as we expand into London, where there is a real need to improve and increase the provision of extra care housing for those older people who need it most.
“With a proven track record of providing high-quality housing with support or care for older people, Housing 21 is well placed to take on additional extra care and retirement living schemes, allowing general needs providers to focus on their core business. We are all operating in a challenging economic environment right now and as a sector we all need to play to our strengths to provide high quality homes and services for our residents.”

Our decision to transfer the services to Housing 21 followed a thorough selection process which involved our residents, and in the end, they were the outstanding bidder.”
