Downing has submitted a planning application to redevelop a brownfield site on the River Clyde in Glasgow into a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) and co-living scheme.
Formerly the headquarters of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspaper, the site at 40 Anderston Quay will comprise three blocks providing 1,135 bedrooms, alongside a 3,700 sq ft commercial unit.
Two of the blocks will provide PBSA units and the third block will be allocated for co-living. The first of the two PBSA blocks will provide 551 bedrooms across 29 storeys and the second PBSA block will house 282 bedrooms within a 10-storey building.
A 13-storey building will provide 302 co-living bedrooms in addition to communal lifestyle and amenity spaces on every floor and a ground floor commercial retail space.
