Great Portland Estates (GPE) has secured planning permission for the refurbishment of the Whittington House office building in London’s West End.

Designed by Richard Seifert & Partners, the 74,500 sq ft HQ building is located close to the Tottenham Court Road Elizabeth Line station.

The development will deliver eight floors of sustainable office space and a new rooftop terrace and pavilion, fronting onto the newly pedestrianised Alfred Place. The repositioned building will be delivered in Q1 2027.

Trevor Phyo, senior development manager at GPE, said: “Securing planning permission from Camden Council marks a significant milestone for this project. We’re proud to be breathing new life into this building, recognising its architectural heritage, and transforming it into a standout workplace that reflects the future of office design. This development strengthens our HQ portfolio and reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional spaces in prime London locations.”
