American food brand Jersey Mike’s has signed for four locations in Central London.

The Jersey Shore-born sandwich brand will open its first UK restaurant on Argyll Street in London’s West End in late autumn this year, which will be closely followed by three further openings in the capital. The company intends to open more sites across the UK and Ireland as part of ambitious expansion plans for the region.

Founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Jersey Mike’s began life as a neighbourhood sandwich shop serving up East Coast-style subs. Today, it operates more than 3,300 locations across the US and Canada.

Peter Cancro, founder and chairman of Jersey Mike’s Subs, said: “Jersey Mike’s has always been about making a great sub, taking care of our customers and giving back to the communities we’re part of. I’m incredibly excited to bring that same spirit to the UK. We’ve spent decades building this brand in America and now we’re ready to introduce a whole new audience to what we mean when we say ‘a Sub Above’.”
