International law firm King & Spalding has signed for 41,000 sq ft of space at Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope’s 8 Bishopsgate office development in the City of London for the firm’s new UK HQ.

King & Spalding, which is currently located at 125 Old Broad Street, has signed a 10-year lease for levels 27-31 of the building. Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope have now let 200,000 sq ft at the building.

Shinichi Kagitomi, managing director of Mitsubishi Estate London, said: “The legal sector is well known for its continued appetite for premium office space, and we are pleased to have been selected as King & Spalding’s new UK headquarters. Having now achieved practical completion, the letting process is gathering pace and the building continues to generate a positive response from the occupier community.”

David Camp, chief executive of Stanhope, added: “The firm’s decision to choose our building underscores its unparalleled appeal as a prime destination for global organisations seeking modern, sustainable, and notable office space in the heart of London’s financial district. We are confident that King & Spalding will find its new, upgraded offices at 8 Bishopsgate to be the perfect fit for its esteemed legal practice.”

Tom Sprange KC, London office managing partner at King & Spalding, said: “I can’t emphasise enough how important the new office is to us, on a strategic, symbolic, practical and professional level. The firm launched in London in 2003 with a handful of people in rented office space so announcing a new state-of-the-art office is a perfect way to not only mark the 20th anniversary of King & Spalding’s London launch but also to secure the foundations for further growth over the next two decades and beyond.”

K&S was advised by Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank. BH2 acted for Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope.
