Lovell has acquired a 6.67-hectare residential development site in Longton from Stoke-on-Trent City Council for an undisclosed price.
The site has lain dormant for more than a decade following the closure of Edensor High School. Lovell is awaiting planning approval to build 193 mixed tenure homes on the site ranging from two- to four-beds.
Stuart Penn, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “This acquisition is a great achievement for Lovell and builds on our continued success in the land market, helping to secure sites and unlock more housing for the Midlands region. Our team has worked closely with the council to de-risk the development to bring much-needed high quality homes to the area. Our plans include family housing, maisonettes and bungalows to suit a range of buyer needs, and all properties will be built to Future Home Standard and under the new Building Regulations.”
Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for infrastructure, regeneration and transport at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, added: “We are committed to ensuring all our residents have access to a wide range of decent homes in the city. This is a great opportunity to bring a long-term vacant site back into use for the benefit of our local communities and we are looking forward to supporting Lovell through the planning process to ensure work can start on site as soon as possible.”
