McLaren Property has secured planning consent for the redevelopment of 285 Bath Street in the heart of Glasgow.
The outdated commercial building will be replaced by a 208-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme.
Designed by Scottish architecture studio Manson’s, the 13-storey building will feature a small coffee shop on the ground floor with the on-site amenity provision including a gym, cinema room, games room, lounge spaces, a private dining room and study lounges. McLaren is targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings for the development.
David Atherton, divisional managing director at McLaren Property, said: “We are pleased that committee members and officers supported our vision for this site. Glasgow is one of the UK’s most compelling student markets and home to several high-performing universities, and with the fourth largest student population in the UK, including a strong international cohort.
“This scheme reflects our continued investment strategy, delivering the highest quality student homes, in prime locations and supporting the UK’s top ranking university cities. We are excited to take this project forwards as we look to work with our partners to secure delivery for the start of the 2029 academic year.”
