Social enterprise Places for People has acquired a development site in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, from Wain Homes with planning consent for 80 new homes.
The 6.5-acre site is located on the edge of the village of Thornton close to the Wyre Estuary Country Park, just a few miles outside of Blackpool.
Places for People will build 28 homes for shared ownership and 52 homes for rent and aims to make a start on site early next year with the first homes ready for occupation in the summer.
Nilam Buchanan, regional managing director, central and north at Places for People, said: “We are pleased to have completed the purchase of this site in Thornton-Cleveleys with planning permission already in place, allowing us to move ahead with the delivery of shared ownership and rental homes for local people. Wain Homes has already successfully established a popular new residential community in the earlier phase of development that creates an extension to the existing village, so our customers will be able to move into a convenient and thriving community.
“As a company, we are committed to building sustainable and resilient communities that include high standards of design and construction, incorporating attractive green spaces and energy-saving features where we know that people will feel welcome.”
