Stanhope and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan have unveiled their redevelopment plans for 70 Gracechurch Street in the City of London.
The plans, which were designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, reimagine a previous planning consent granted in 2021, with many elements of the existing office building re-used and retained to minimise the carbon impact.
Stanhope and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan acquired the site in April 2022 and are kicking off the first phase of consultation on their proposals this week, with a view to submitting a planning application later in the year.
Nick Jarman, senior development director at Stanhope, said: “Our development team have reimagined the plans for this prominent and brilliantly located site within the City of London, with a focus on sustainability and the reuse and retention of substantial elements of the existing building.
“This will minimise the carbon impact of redevelopment, alongside creating new cultural spaces and routes for wider public benefit. We look forward to showing these emerging plans at the public exhibition and encourage people to come along and have their say.”
