Property X-Change has appointed ESG expert Vivienne King as an ambassador to help take the new platform “to the next level” and work more closely with the property sector to accelerate the way high street property can deliver social value.
Property X-Change was set up by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and founding partners in 2022 as a platform to share ideas and promote under-represented voices across the property sector.
The initiative aims to build a network of “forward-thinking property owners, asset managers and developers to help lead the way in re-thinking how high street property can be at the heart of local resilience”.
King, who is the former head of REVO and Soho Housing and current head of real estate at social impact advisor The Good Economy, supports the GLA’s vision for Property X-Change as a “powerful forum for collaboration and action for everyone who has an interest in the success of London’s high streets and their future”.
Jules Pipe, deputy mayor of London, said: “Property X-Change is part of the mayor’s commitment to sustainable high street and town centre regeneration across London. Our high streets have faced many challenges over the last few years including a reduction in footfall and the financial squeeze on retailers and shoppers.”
“Vivienne’s involvement and experience will be invaluable to the growth of Property X-Change, enabling social impact businesses and underrepresented talent bring fresh ideas that will shape the future of high streets across the capital.”
Property X-Change ambassador King added: “The work already done by the GLA and its partners has made Property X-Change into a rare and important tool – a way for us all to address social impact in ESG strategies.
“Being appointed ambassador is an opportunity to grow this initiative and support a drive for real and sustained success. I believe that by connecting the interests of those emotionally and financially invested in our high streets and overriding the silos that get in the way of creative dialogue, we can work together explore new ways to deliver social value through high street investment.
“I hope we can get to a place where everyone wins – investors see sustainable activity, operators successful businesses and residents share in the benefits of activity that supports their communities. In short, vibrant and inclusive high streets can emerge. If you’re working to this agenda and want to share a pioneering approach, we want to hear from you.”
Property X-Change is organising a free ‘Summer Celebration’ event on 28 June at the London Centre. Anyone interested in joining the initiative is encouraged to attend.
