The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has put its historic Congress House headquarters on Great Russell Street in London on the market.
The union has appointed Gerald Eve to oversee the sale of the circa 138,000 sq ft Grade II listed building and advise on its search for new headquarters.
Congress House, which has been the headquarters of the TUC since 1958, provides a mix of conference, events and office space arranged over basement, ground and six upper floors. The accommodation is arranged around a central atrium which is home to an installation and sculpture by Jacob Epstein.
Matthew Prout, partner at Gerald Eve, said: “For nearly seven decades, Congress House has been seen as the home of the trade union movement, so it is with deep appreciation that we take on this mandate to bring such a historic landmark to the market. At the same time, we will be looking for a new home for the TUC that will help to deliver a sustainable and positive future.”
