Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) created £22,709,290 of social value at its Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City shopping centres since 2021, according to the company’s Social Value Impact Reports.

URW produced the report in partnership with Social Value Portal, which assessed factors including annual contractor spends, job creation figures, biodiversity programmes, charitable donations and community initiatives at both centres to determine the social value contributing to their surrounding localities

URW said its contractor partners, including Mitie, Grosvenor and OCS, were key to the social value generation for the respective centres.

Alyson Hodkinson, head of CSR for URW UK, said: “Like many businesses, we’re on a journey to ensure we give back to the communities around us and to safeguard the future of our planet. I am pleased to see that both our centres saw social value contributions increase since 2021, especially as over the course of 2022 we announced individual net zero targets for both Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City.

“Working with our range of retail, charity, community and environmental partners, Westfield centres are constantly looking to improve how we can continue to make a meaningful contribution and we see transparent social value reporting as an essential part of our strategy.”
