Views has submitted plans to transform Fallowfield’s historic Oakley Villa into a residential development.
The developer intends to deliver 11 one- and two-bedroom apartments through the conversion and conservation of the existing building alongside the construction of 42 new three- and four-bedroom houses.
Designed by Nick Moss Architects, the design strategy for the scheme Oakley Gardens, which is located on Wilmslow Road, is to restore and celebrate the villa, retain important mature trees and create contextual housing that reflects the immediate vicinity.
Although not listed, Oakley Villa has a number of significant historic and architectural features including decorative ceilings, historic fireplaces and mouldings and a grand staircase with carved balustrades.
Shujaat Rasool, co-CEO of Views, said: “Our proposals for Oakley Gardens are a juxtaposition of old and new; restoring the much loved historic Oakley Villa and complementing it with much needed family homes. Alongside this, there’s been much care and attention paid to tree retention, landscape enhancement and heritage conservation to provide a sustainable development that caters to modern living. By providing a mix of carefully considered one- to four-bedroom properties, we can meet the needs of a large range of people and celebrate a defining feature of the site.”
Planning consultancy AshtonHale submitted the application on Views’ behalf.
