WeWork has secured a “significant investment” from the landlord to refurbish the flex space at 16 Great Chapel Street in the heart of Soho, London.

The flex company opened the site in 2016 and said it would use the investment to complete a full fit-out of the building to offer an “upgraded dynamic workspace”.

The seven-storey space will feature private offices, lounges and conference rooms designed for collaboration, in addition to phone booths and dedicated quiet space for “heads-down tasks”. New on-site amenities will include a barista bar and a wellness room.

WeWork said a “leading AI startup” is taking two full floors at the location representing 34% of the site’s desk occupancy.

Peter Greenspan, global head of real estate at WeWork, said: “We’re thrilled to be revamping this iconic location in the heart of Soho. This significant investment reaffirms our commitment to optimising our portfolio to provide our members with the signature experience they expect for the long term. With increasing appetite for scalable, well-designed space in prime locations, WeWork continues to be a first choice for forward-thinking businesses implementing progressive workplace strategies. We look forward to re-opening our doors to members this May.”
