Law firm Davitt Jones Bould has appointed social housing specialist Namita Matkar as a partner.

Matkar, who has more than a decade’s experience in property law, is head of legal at Norwich-based housing association Flagship Housing Group.

At Flagship, she leads the in-house property team which deals with development site acquisitions, section 106 purchases, commercial leases, asset disposals, plot sales and shared ownership sales.

In her new role, Matkar will offer specialist housing advice to Davitt Jones Bould’s clients on matters such as obtaining planning permission for housing developments, acquiring and disposing land, negotiating with local authorities to deliver housing and other infrastructures, drafting and negotiating section 106 agreements and environmental issues including contamination, nuisance and rights to light.

Madeleine Davitt, senior partner at Davitt Jones Bould, said: “Namita is a highly experienced and pragmatic property lawyer with a particular specialism in social housing. Her four years in-house at Flagship have given her deep insight into the needs of housing associations and a strong understanding of the sector. Her appointment consolidates our ability to offer first-rate advice to our clients on housing and I’m delighted to welcome her to the team.”
