Bidwells has hired Mark Teasdale as the company’s new head of economics and social value.

Teasdale has more than 30 years’ experience of delivering complex, mixed-use schemes, often subject to environmental impact assessment.

In his new role, he will bolster the company’s socio-economic planning offering and will be responsible for developing Bidwells’ social value strategy.

Mike Derbyshire, head of planning at Bidwells, said: “We are delighted to have Mark join our team. He has class-leading experience in carrying out social value evaluations, grounded by a first-class academic background as a trained economist. Social impact has become an increasingly important part of the applications we make on behalf of our clients, demonstrating the value to the community the development will bring. We are confident that Mark will be able to add real value to the services we are able to offer our clients.”

Mark Teasdale, head of economics and social value at Bidwells, added: “Bidwells’ planning team have advised on some of the most important regeneration projects in the Golden Triangle, so I am especially excited to join the firm as it looks to embed social value in its planning offer for clients and throughout its own activities as a business.

“Whenever we are promoting sites or schemes for new development, we always seek to understand how proposals can best be shaped to meet the needs of local communities. We look to create enduring social value and to measure our social impact wherever we can.”
