Avison Young has appointed Sam Orwin from Gleeds to the role of managing director of London project management.

Orwin, who has more than 20 years experience in the construction industry, led the growth of Gleed’s project management team in London for the past two years. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Cushman & Wakefield and Lendlease.

At Avison Young, Orwin will be responsible for leading the project management team in London and identifying and securing new work.

As part of the company’s strategy to create a unified offering in London by integrating the project management, workplace, arts and culture, and occupier solutions offerings into a single business unit, Steve Mason – who joined Avison Young earlier this year – will now step into a new role as managing director of the building and project consultancy (London).

Graham Fairhurst, principal and managing director, building and project consultancy at Avison Young, said: “Sam is a strong addition to our growing team as we head into 2025, bringing a wealth of expertise in building high-performing teams and delivering quality outcomes for his clients. Steve’s move into his new role underlines our strategic focus on expanding our consultancy offering, and his continued involvement with the project management team will be invaluable as we integrate Sam into his new position. This appointment reflects our commitment to the project management service line, in delivering a more integrated and collaborative offering for our clients.”

Mason added: “I joined Avison Young in July to lead the transformation of our project management business in London. The next step in this process is integrating our service lines into a single, cohesive unit. I’m delighted to welcome Sam, who took over the helm as managing director of our project management business in London on 1 October. I will continue to support Sam and the team through this transition, as I move into my new leadership role. This is an exciting step in our strategic growth plan, and there will be more announcements to come.”

Orwin said: “Joining Avison Young’s project management team is a great opportunity to work with a growing and dynamic team. I look forward to contributing to the strategic growth of our business and collaborating with experts from across Avison Young to maximise the positive impact we can have on our partners and clients.”
