King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership has appointed Leo Shapland from Workspace Group as its new CEO.
Shapland, who has two decades of experience in the real estate industry, served as executive director and head of portfolio management at Workspace Group.
Prior to that, he was head of real estate asset management at Aviva Investors and spent almost a decade at Tishman Speyer working in the firm’s Seattle, San Francisco and London offices.
He will take on the newly created role in August and will oversee the creation of a team focused entirely on the King’s Cross estate.
Stephen Hubbard, chair of King’s Cross Central, said: “Leo’s appointment is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for King’s Cross. Under his leadership, we will build an organisation dedicated to the management and development of King’s Cross to enhance the experience of customers, residents, and visitors.
“Leo brings with him a combination of superb technical expertise, strategic thinking and a proven track record leading major property organisations. I look forward to working with him, our partners at Related Argent, and our investors, as we continue to build a vibrant 21st century destination.”
Shapland added: “The transformation of King’s Cross, from a brownfield site into a thriving community, is one of London’s greatest success stories. I feel privileged to have the chance to build on this legacy by bringing together a team that combines the creativity and operational excellence we need to ensure King’s Cross prospers as a destination for retail and leisure, and retains and attracts global businesses at the forefront of innovation.”
