Criterion Capital has secured planning consent for the redevelopment of Camberwell Magistrates’ Court.
Designed by Ackroyd Lowrie, the retrofit scheme will reinvent the vacant building as a vibrant, mixed-use neighbourhood.
The scheme will comprise 134 new homes, 35.1% of which will be affordable, an upgraded public plaza and 650 sq m of new public realm and green space, 250 sq m of multi-functional community space, co-working space, a café and a podcast/recording studio and a 150-room Zedwell Hotel.
The retrofit project will save 4,593 tonnes of CO2 by retaining and reusing the building’s existing concrete frame, achieve a 75% improvement in operational emissions versus Part L 2021 regulations and deliver a biodiversity net gain of 378.5%.
