Westminster City Council has selected Altius Real Estate as delivery partner for the redevelopment of Huguenot House in London’s West End.
Huguenot House, which is located between Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus, comprises flats, offices, a cinema and a car park.
Westminster City Council has been considering options for the site since 2017 and in March 2021 it took the decision to redevelop the site and launch the search for a development partner.
Altius’s proposals for the site include new homes, with an increased affordable provision, a cinema, hotel and offices. The company will now begin working up plans for the scheme with its project team, which includes Foster + Partners and contractor Erith, before submitting a planning application.
David Boothroyd, Westminster City Council cabinet member for finance and council reform, said: “The redevelopment of Huguenot House represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform a key site in the heart of the West End. Altius has demonstrated a clear commitment to delivering high-quality homes, including much-needed affordable housing in our city, alongside vibrant community spaces and a reimagined public realm.
“This is about creating a place that works for residents, businesses, and visitors alike and we will ensure local people and existing residents remain at the heart of the process through continued engagement and consultation.”
