Affidea has agreed a deal to open a 30,000 sq ft state-of-the-art private clinic at Romulus’s Wimbledon Quarter scheme.
The new facility will house private GP services, an urgent care clinic as well as a large imaging department boasting the latest diagnostic equipment and specialist outpatient treatment rooms. The new healthcare facility will also include surgical capacity with two laminar flow theatres and one day case theatre included in the plans.
Alex Woolf, COO at Romulus, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Affidea to Wimbledon Quarter. This pioneering, patient-first hospital brings world-class healthcare into the heart of the community. With a growing mix of exciting tenants across retail, F&B, leisure, wellness and now healthcare, Affidea’s arrival further underpins Wimbledon Quarter as a truly mixed-use destination; one where people can access exceptional services close to home. We’re proud to support this forward-thinking clinic and look forward to seeing it come to life.”
Barry Downes, CEO of Affidea UK and Ireland, added: “We are excited to unveil our latest investment in the UK. To the best of our knowledge, this will be the first hospital developed within a live retail environment – a truly innovative step that aligns with how people live and move today. Our new Wimbledon clinic will offer patients rapid access to leading specialists, advanced diagnostics, and outstanding surgical care – all under one roof.”
Dr Charles Niehaus, executive director for Affidea Group, said: “This investment is part of a broader shift in how we define access to care. By integrating advanced clinical services into the fabric of urban neighbourhoods, we’re not only improving physical access, we’re reimagining the role healthcare plays in modern cities. It’s about moving beyond the traditional hospital model to deliver proactive, preventive, and patient-led care where it’s needed most. Wimbledon is a bold first step in the UK, but it reflects a scalable, pan-European vision that’s at the core of our long-term strategy.”
