Equinix has secured outline planning consent to build a major new data centre on the site of a former paint factory in Slough.
The data centre provider acquired the former AkzoNobel site off Wexham Road in 2022 from Slough Borough Council and intends to deliver a 975,360 sq ft scheme on the 11.5-acre site. The development will comprise three buildings each with a separate data hall.
Equinix intends to exceed the biodiversity net gain target of 10% set by Slough Borough Council by incorporating wild flowers, native and ornamental species of trees and shrubs in the development.
The global data centre business already operates a number of data centres in the local area.
