Vistry has agreed a deal to acquire a 33.75-acre residential development site in Yarnton on the outskirts of Oxford.

The Yarnton Fields site has already secured outline planning permission for 540 mixed-tenure homes as well as a community hub and elderly/extra care provision.

A minimum of 43% of the total number of homes being delivered at Yarnton have been designated as affordable and provision has also been made for a community work hub, new playing fields for William Fletcher Primary School as well as public open spaces and community woodland.

Trevor Wicks, managing director of Vistry Thames Valley, said: “Yarnton Fields is an exceptional site in an outstanding location close to Oxford city centre and we are very pleased to have reached this important milestone in the creation of a new village community. The delivery of 540 high quality homes, alongside the provision of a community hub and multiple additional facilities, will help to address Oxford’s chronic housing need while providing the infrastructure required for new neighbourhoods to flourish.”

A spokesperson for Newmark, which represented the landowner on the deal, added: “We are delighted to have advised the landowner on the successful planning and subsequent sale of this strategically important site at Yarnton Fields. This transaction represents a significant step in unlocking much-needed housing for Oxford and the surrounding area. The scheme will deliver a thoughtfully designed community with a strong emphasis on sustainability and social value, aligning with the landowner’s long-term vision for the site.”
