A residential development site at Cowcaddens in Glasgow city centre has been put up for sale.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is due to move from its current 4.4-acre home in the city to a new purpose-built facility, paving the way for the development of its complex.
The site benefits from planning permission in principle for more than 1,250 new homes, with the make-up of the homes determined by any potential developer.
Options include build-to-rent (BTR), private residential or purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), in addition to retail and leisure space.
Nina Stobie, residential and development land director at JLL, which has been appointed to market the opportunity, said: “Glasgow’s residential market has made major progress in recent years and following the Scottish government’s recent decision to exempt BTR schemes from rent caps, we predict an increase in residential investment and developer activity in what represents a sought after, under supplied market.
