Joint venture partners Frogmore Real Estate Capital and C1 Capital have put two Mercure Hotels up for sale in Northampton and Essex.
Mercure Northampton is a purpose-built full-service hotel comprising 146 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, bar and flexible meeting/conference facilities, with the scope to host 400 guests in its largest function room. The hotel, which was comprehensively refurbished in May 2024 when it was re-branded as a Mercure, is located in Northampton town centre.
Stifford Hall Hotel, which is located in North Stifford in Thurrock, is an 18th-century manor house providing 97 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, bar, meeting spaces and gazebo set within 3.7 acres of landscaped gardens. The hotel was also substantially refurbished as a Mercure and reopened following the re-brand in June 2025.
The hotels have been listed for sale individually, but the vendor would also consider portfolio offers.
Chris Field, from the hotel agency team at Knight Frank, which has been appointed to market the hotels, said: “Mercure Northampton and Mercure Thurrock Stifford Hall both present excellent opportunities to acquire attractive hotel businesses in desirable locations. The recent refurbishment and re-branding of the hotels also offer an incoming purchaser the benefit of acquiring well capitalised assets that still provide further trading potential upside as they approach stabilisation.
“These hotels are located in markets that are likely to grow in the near future, with Northampton undergoing significant regeneration in the town centre and Thurrock set to benefit from the future development of Tilbury Docks and the Lower Thames Crossing. We look forward to securing purchasers for both assets.”
