Capital&Centric has submitted a planning application for the £100m transformation of The Springs in Buxton.
The development, which is being brought forward with High Peak Borough Council, comprises a residential-led neighbourhood with 332 design-led homes for rent, retail and F&B space and new green public spaces.
The housing element of the scheme will feature townhouses and apartments and include on-site amenities such as a gym, a mini cinema and co-working spaces.

The final vision complements what already makes the town great and is all the better for being shaped by those who know and love it the most.
“We’ve made the plans even greener, expanded the housing offer, and put options for indie businesses right at the heart of the community. There’s a real opportunity here to create something that celebrates Buxton’s heritage and character while also giving the town centre the revitalisation it deserves. We can’t wait to get spades in the ground and make this vision a reality.”

After seven years of hard work, the council is pleased to reach a major milestone with the submission of plans for the revitalisation of our town centre. What began with £6.6m from the government’s Future High Street Fund, alongside £4.2m of our own funds, the council purchasing The Springs shopping centre and appointing Capital&Centric as our development partner, has now progressed into a £100m+ scheme we believe will bring lasting benefits for the town.
“Importantly, this scheme has been shaped by local people. We have listened to feedback throughout the consultations and acted on it, strengthening the plans to reflect what residents and businesses want and addressing concerns on parking and affordable housing. This really is a once in a generation opportunity to enhance what already makes Buxton such a great place to live in and to visit. The proposals breathe new life in a key part of the town that people will want to make their home – creating a vibrant destination with new homes, leisure and retail, attractive public spaces, more greenery, and the reopening of the River Wye at its heart.”
