Manero Cinemas has signed a 15-year lease on a unit currently occupied by WHSmith in Stanley Square, Sale, for a new three-screen cinema.
As part of the redevelopment of Sale town centre, asset manager Altered Space has agreed a deal with Manero to open the 153-seat boutique cinema called The Northern Light.
The WHSmith unit will be vacated at the end of September and work is set to begin at the site later this year with the cinema opening its doors in early 2025.
Tony Mundin, owner and managing director of Manero Cinemas, said: “We are thrilled to bring an affordable, luxury experience to Sale for everyone to enjoy a regular trip to the cinema. Stanley Square seemed like the perfect location to open The Northern Light, due to the welcoming community of tenants and its revitalised aesthetic.”
Michael Brown, director of Altered Space, added: “The new luxury cinema will be a great addition to Stanley Square, further adding to our list of strong independent traders. The Northern Light will contribute to Sale’s growing town centre economy, particularly complementing our existing food and beverage outlets. Regeneration is an ongoing process and we look forward to fulfilling further opportunities throughout the year.”
