Bridges Fund Management has appointed John Gellatly as a non-executive director.

Gellatly, who has almost 40 years’ experience in global real estate investment, was most recently chief investment officer real estate for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC), overseeing the sovereign wealth fund’s global real estate investment portfolio.

Prior to that, he worked in Aviva Investors’ global indirect real estate platform and earlier in his career he worked for BlackRock, Credit Suisse First Boston and ABN AMRO. He is currently chair of the RICS Property Investment Forum.

In his new role, he will support the continued growth of the Bridges property platform and will work closely with the rest of the board, led by chair Philp Newborough, CEO Michele Giddens and the Bridges property investment team, which is led by Simon Ringer.

Newborough said: “We are delighted to welcome John to the board. Our pioneering property platform has gone from strength-to-strength in the UK over the last 15 years. John’s wide-ranging experience, strategic insights and global network will be incredibly valuable as we look to further accelerate the growth of the platform over the next decade, and we are looking forward to working with him.”

Gellatly (pictured) added: “I first met the Bridges team over 20 years ago, and have been following their progress admiringly ever since. I firmly believe that sustainable and impact-driven real estate investment has a vitally important role to play in the next decade, and Bridges has firmly established itself as a market-leader in this space. So I’m excited to have this opportunity to help the team build out the platform further in the coming years, and continue to demonstrate the value of this approach.”
