Chase New Homes has secured planning consent for the delivery of 168 new homes on Thaxted Road in Saffron Walden.

The scheme, which is being built on a 13-acre site, will deliver a variety of homes ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom family houses.

Chase New Homes has partnered with B3 Living for the delivery of 67 affordable homes at the scheme.

Gary Barton, managing director of Chase New Homes, said: “We are delighted with the positive planning outcome from appeal for the residential development at Thaxted Road. It is a great testament to the hard work and resolve of our development and planning team.

“The unmitigated interruptions in the planning process through the failure to interpret and apply the outline planning permission correctly, has meant that the delivery of these much needed homes has been delayed by over a year and this appeal approval only reinforces the government’s stance that the planning system and decision making process requires fundamental changes.

“Since purchasing the site almost two years ago, we have worked tirelessly to create a vision that will blend traditional materials with sustainably focused landscaping. Following the approval, we are looking forward to delivering homes for future residents that will stand the test of time and to introduce further community proposals such as highway improvements, cycle pathways and providing contributions to the local education and health facilities.”
