Graham Cherry will assume the role of chief executive of Stonebond in September after the housebuilder’s current chief executive Andrew Cornelius announced plans to seek employment closer to his home so he could spend more time with his family.

Over the past few years, Cornelius, who was appointed to the chief executive role in 2019, has worked closely with Graham Cherry and his brother Richard to pivot Stonebond into a partnerships-led developer, working with local authorities, housing providers and PRS investors to deliver mixed-tenure communities.

Under the new operational structure, Richard Cherry will continue to serve as executive chair of the business.

Cornelius said: “I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with Graham and Richard for the past 10 years, latterly as chief executive of Stonebond, overseeing an operational shift to partnerships-led housebuilding which has seen the business grow significantly from circa £20m of revenue in 2019 to an expected level of over £150m this year.

“The Cherrys have immense experience in the industry with a great culture and the company is well set up to capitalise on this growing area of the market, and I’m now looking forward to taking up opportunities closer to home.”

Graham Cherry added: “Richard and I would like to thank Andrew for his significant contribution to the recent growth of Stonebond. His successful tenure will be recognised for overseeing our transition into a partnerships business and establishing our regional operating structure during a challenging time for our industry.

“We are now well placed to capitalise on partnerships-led opportunities across our areas of operation and I am very much looking forward to a more hands on role working with existing and future partners to help meet the nation’s housing crisis. We wish Andrew every success in the next phase of his career.”
