Deka Immobilien has received planning consent for the refurbishment of the 1 Old Jewry office building in the City of London.

The refurbishment will comprise approximately 69,300 sq ft of Grade A office space arranged over the first to ninth floors and 5,000 sq ft of remodelled retail accommodation.

Deka is targeting WELL Platinum, NABERS 5*, EPC A and BREEAM Outstanding ratings for the refurbishment, which is expected to commence in H2 2024, with practical completion expected in mid-2026.

John Trevor, a director in Savills’ strategic investment advisory team, said: “It’s great news to have reached this milestone. Now that planning consent has been given, we look forward to securing tenants for this high quality, prime, office space. We’re seeing a huge trend in the flight to quality, with occupiers looking for space which is not only in the right location, but is finished to an excellent standard, and 1 Old Jewry ticks all the boxes.”

Savills and CBRE are joint letting agents at 1 Jewry and the professional team comprises Sheppard Robson, Ramboll, Hilson Moran and Savills’ project management team.
