Custodian Property Income REIT has appointed David MacLellan as an independent non-executive director of the company.

It is anticipated that MacLellan, who joins the company’s nominations and management engagement committees, will be appointed as chair of Custodian from 8 August following David Hunter’s expected retirement at the company’s AGM that day.

During his executive career MacLellan, who has more than 35 years’ experience in equity and fund management, was an executive director of Aberdeen Asset Management following its purchase of Murray Johnstone in 2000.

He is the former chair and senior independent director of John Laing Infrastructure Fund, former chair of Havelock Europa and he was also chair of Britannic UK Income fund for 12 years, in addition to serving as a director of a number of private equity backed businesses.

Elizabeth McMeikan, senior independent director of Custodian Property Income REIT, said: “David brings a wealth of highly relevant but complementary experiences which strengthen the board’s finance, investment company and governance experience. We are delighted to welcome him to the board and look forward to working with him.”
