Greencore Homes has acquired a site in Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire, with outline planning permission for 75 new homes, 30% of which will be affordable.
It bought the site from the Diocese of Oxford, which selected it partly as a result of its commitment to delivering 10,000 Better Than Net Zero homes by 2035.
In its developments, Greencore uses hemp-filled, timber panels that are assembled off site, which ensure the structure of each home achieves better than zero embodied carbon. Developments are also designed to achieve ultra-low embodied carbon overall and a net zero energy balance in occupation.
Located close to Waddesdon Manor, the site offers excellent transport links and access to local amenities and is close to Aylesbury Vale Parkway station. A “significant proportion” of the affordable housing will be social rented homes and the scheme is expected to appeal to a wide range of residents, including families, downsizers and young professionals.
