Property and regeneration specialist Hargreaves Land has appointed Niall McLean as a development director in the company’s Glasgow office.

McLean, who has more than 25 years’ experience in residential and commercial development, joins Hargreaves Land from Hermiston Securities.

At Hargreaves Land, he will take a leading role at Blindwells, the sustainable new town located 12 miles outside of Edinburgh, which has planning consent for 1,600 homes.

Hargreaves Land is currently looking to secure planning permission from East Lothian Council for an extensive range of retail and leisure facilities at Blindwells, together with new business space.

McLean said: “I am thrilled to be joining Hargreaves Land at what is a very exciting time for the firm, and I am looking forward to the new challenge. There is a tremendously talented team working across three offices and some incredible development opportunities in the pipeline.”

Bruce Lindsay, land managing director at Hargreaves Land, added: “I am delighted to welcome Niall to the team and I am confident he will be a huge asset as we forge ahead with our investment at Blindwells. His tremendous experience in commercial and residential development will be integral to the growth of the business in Scotland over the coming years.”
