Lloyds Living has appointed Matt Burgess to succeed Andy Hutchinson as CEO of the business.

Burgess, who has been serving as acting-CEO since Hutchinson stepped down earlier this year, will step up from his role as chief investment officer with immediate effect.

Burgess joined Lloyds Living in July 2021 and prior to that he served as a director at JLL and spent more than 10 years working in various investment-focused roles at HSBC.

Toby Rougier, CEO of Lloyds Banking Group Investments, said: “My congratulations to Matt on his appointment as chief executive. He has been a pivotal part of Lloyds Living’s growth story to date and is perfectly positioned to lead the business through the next chapter of it. His experience of the housing sector, understanding of Lloyds Living, together with his vision for the business, will enable Lloyds Living to achieve its goal of helping more people live in the kinds of homes they want in the places the want to be.”

Burgess added: “I am immensely proud of what we have built at Lloyds Living over the last four years and the opportunity I’ve been given to lead the next phase of its growth. Lloyds Living has gone from a start-up to a portfolio of over 7,300 homes in four years, which is a testament to the efforts of the whole team. That’s only the beginning, we have exciting, ambitious plans to grow our portfolio, the number of rental homes in the UK and the number of people we can help get into homeownership and together we will deliver them.”
