Gravesham Borough Council has resolved to grant planning permission for a major new mixed-use waterfront development in Gravesend, Kent.
Northfleet Harbourside will comprise 300,000 sq ft of new retail, F&B and leisure space, a circa 300-bed hotel, 150,000 sq ft of office space, a new 8,000-capacity football stadium for Ebbsfleet United Football Club and 3,500 new homes on a circa 50-acre site.
The scheme is being delivered by Northfleet Harbourside Development Company, which is backed by a consortium of international investors.
A spokesperson for Northfleet Harbourside Development Company said: “Northfleet Harbourside will be a catalyst for regeneration along this part of the River Thames – putting Northfleet firmly on the map. This is a testament to great partnership working with Gravesham Borough Council over many months. During construction and after completion, the development will bring jobs, create opportunities, and deliver new local services for the community all around Ebbsfleet United Football Club.”
Damian Irvine, chief executive officer at Ebbsfleet United Football Club, added: “Today is a truly significant day in our club’s great history and for the people of Northfleet and Gravesend. The outcome has been the result of many months of hard work and collaboration with Gravesham Borough Council, our development partners and investors. The long-term sustainability of the football club, as well as a positive long-term impact for future generations, has been secured.”
Northfleet Harbourside Development Company will now begin working with Gravesham Borough Council to develop more detailed plans for each phase of the scheme.
