Construction technology firm Modulous has appointed Chris Spiceley as client accounts director following a £10m Series A fundraise.

He joins from contractor Claritas Group and will be responsible for forging commercial relationships with Modulous’ partners in addition to helping grow the company’s project pipeline.

Spiceley, who previously spent two years at housing association Places for People as a director of developments and delivery optimisation, has also held management roles at Mace Group and Lendlease.

Spiceley said: “It’s estimated that there is a backlog of four million homes across the UK, with the deficit growing by 140,000 homes a year. At the same time, the real estate industry is looking to get a grip on cost inflation and programme overruns. With the urgent need for more homes, more and more businesses will be looking for tech-enabled solutions that provide the means to deliver high-quality homes that produce less waste and cut levels of embodied carbon.

“Modulous was set up to solve these problems and I look forward to working closely with the wider industry to explain how we can help tackle these common pain points and enable the delivery of more sustainable homes.”

Modulous, a construction technology company aiming to help developers and construction firms build modular housing without capital-intensive factories, recently closed a £10m Series A round from investors include SFV, the venture capital fund backed by Patrizia, Regal London and the corporate venture capital arm of construction giant CEMEX.
