Montagu Evans has recruited residential land specialist Richard Thomas from Cushman & Wakefield.
Thomas started his career at Montagu Evans on the consultancy’s graduate training programme and moved on to worked for BNP Paribas/Strutt & Parker. More recently, he led Cushman & Wakefield’s London and South East land team with responsibility for residential, student and co-living land transactions
In this new role, he will lead Montagu Evans’ land team, working closely with investment, planning and advisory colleagues, as well as the firm’s landowner clients, to ‘help unlock value and deliver development opportunities across all areas of the housing lifecycle’.
Adrian Owen, partner at Montagu Evans, said: “Underlying the significant opportunities that the housing sector currently presents is the need for broader thinking about land and site supply. The ability to put in place new transactional and funding structures to deliver high quality development is essential. Richard’s wide-ranging experience on behalf of some of the largest London and regional developers, his recent focus on sectors such as student housing and co-living, and his deep technical and legal knowledge will be an advantage to clients exploring new approaches in this area.”
Thomas added: “There is always potential for better connections throughout the land, planning and development lifecycle, so while the team at Montagu Evans is already very well set up, I’m looking forward to adding an extra dimension that will support both private and public sector clients with land and funding as part of this joined up approach. It’s good to be back.”
