Newmark has hired Paddy Shipp and Rupert Dando to form the company’s new UK science and innovation practice.

Shipp joins Newmark from JLL, where he was head of UK life science agency, and Dando joins the company as a senior associate from Savills.

The new group, which will be led by Shipp, will work with key investors, developers, occupiers and venture capital investors across the UK’s core science and innovation markets.

The practice will also work closely with a number of Newmark’s UK teams including planning and development, higher education, occupier agency and capital markets, and will also collaborate with the company’s US life sciences group.

Simon Prichard, senior partner at Newmark UK, said: “These appointments directly complement Newmark’s market-leading position in the US life sciences market. Paddy and Rupert’s proven track record and strong client following further strengthens our position in this sector. It also underlines Newmark’s continued commitment to hiring the best talent to service our clients’ needs.”

Shipp added: “It is an exciting time to be joining Newmark as it continues to expand its key service lines across UK and Europe. We look forward to working with key clients across the core markets and delivering a best-in-class service.”

Dando said: “We are looking forward to working closely with our market leading life sciences team in the US and providing our clients with a high-quality service in the UK market.”
