Birgit Ludwig has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) of Swiss Life Asset Managers and a member of the firm’s executive committee, effective 1 January 2026.
She succeeds Robin van Berkel, who will be handing over his function as COO as part of a long-term succession plan.
Ludwig has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and for the past 10 years she has held various COO functions at BlackRock Asset Management.
In her new role, she will report directly to Per Erikson, group CIO of Swiss Life, and will be responsible for the further development and transformation of the organisation.
Van Berkel will step down as COO as of 1 January 2026 and will continue to work as managing director for Swiss Life Asset Management.
