Vistry Group and Bristol City Council’s housing company Goram Homes have formed a joint venture partnership to deliver 130 new homes in Hengrove, south Bristol.
The mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses will be built on a brownfield site on New Fosseway Road in Hengrove, which was previously home to a school demolished more than 10 years ago.
Work is expected to start on site imminently and half of the homes at The Fosseway scheme will be council-owned affordable housing for social rent and shared ownership. Vistry will sell the open market homes under its Countryside Homes brand.
The deal builds on the existing partnership between Vistry and Goram Homes, which will see 538 homes new homes delivered across Bristol in total.

Together, we are delivering a high volume of mixed-tenure, affordable homes, whilst also breathing new life into brownfield sites and creating vibrant new neighbourhoods.”
Stephen Baker, managing director of Goram Homes, added: “We face an increasing demand for housing in Bristol, and The Fosseway is a prime example of how we’re repurposing disused land into much-needed new homes. Goram Homes and Vistry are building 538 new homes, 281 of which will be council-owned affordable housing, for social rent and shared ownership. We’ve already celebrated completing our first homes at One Lockleaze, we’ve started building at Dovercourt Road, and we’re excited to begin work on our third site together.”
