The Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) has appointed Richard Linstead as its new CEO.

Linstead (pictured), who has held the role of chief product and technology officer at BCIS for the past two years, brings more than 25 years of experience in leading product, commercial and technology across fintech, media and professional services.

Linstead replaces former CEO James Fiske who has been appointed to the new role of executive director.

Linstead said: “BCIS occupies a special place within the UK built environment ecosystem. It’s an organisation with a rich heritage, built on data integrity and deep contextual expertise – and a focus on supporting the whole industry to grow. I’m looking forward to leading this exceptional team in evolving our existing platforms and services, while developing innovative new data products and tools to further improve the user experience and offering for our customers.”

Colin Smith, chair of BCIS, added: “James has led BCIS through an ambitious growth phase, delivering improvements in market penetration, customer experience, thought leadership and developing the BCIS culture as a standalone business. We are grateful for his continued commitment to the strategic development of the business in the years ahead. Richard’s drive has already made a significant difference to BCIS since he joined in 2023, and his appointment as CEO positions the organisation for future growth as it continues to deliver high-quality data and technology solutions to its customers.”
