Social infrastructure investment manager Newcore Capital (Newcore) has appointed Beatrice Hollond as chairwoman.
She succeeds professor Andrew Baum, who transitioned from chairman of Newcore to senior adviser in January this year.
Hollond has more than four decades of experience across asset management, public markets, private wealth, charity and corporate governance. As well as the chair positions of family offices, Smedvig AS and Millbank Financial Services, she serves on the board of Brown Advisory in the US, and chairs the investment advisory committee for the Macdoch Group.
Hollond’s early career included more than 15 years at Credit Suisse Asset Management, where she finished as managing director of global fixed income, having entered the financial services industry as an equity analyst at Morgan Grenfell.
Hollond said: “Newcore is a rare genuinely purpose-driven business and I am very pleased to become its new chair. Newcore’s commitment to sound capital management and its track record in achieving positive social impact alongside strong financial returns has seen the business establish a loyal and growing investor base across institutional capital and private wealth, securing new equity commitments despite a challenging fundraising environment for UK real estate. I look forward to working closely with Hugo and the wider team.”
Hugo Llewelyn, CEO of Newcore Capital, added: “Beatrice brings extensive and deeply relevant experience to our Newcore board, not only as a former global bond market fund manager in her executive career, but also now advising and leading some of the UK’s premier charitable and financial institutions. We are delighted that she has agreed to join us as Newcore’s new chair and to become a partner in our business. I’d like also to thank professor Andrew Baum for his many years of guidance and service and his continuing friendship and mentorship to me and the Newcore team.”
