Home Grown Hotels, operator of the luxury hotel brand THE PIG, has acquired the Grade II listed Tunbridge Wells Hotel for an undisclosed price.

The 20-bedroom hotel, which was sold off a guide price of £2.695m, occupies a prominent position in the heart of The Pantiles, Royal Tunbridge Wells’ historic leisure destination.

The 18th-century property, which includes a bar, restaurant, function room and outdoor dining areas, is expected to undergo a comprehensive refurbishment programme over the coming months, will have a focus on championing local suppliers and produce under THE PIG’s ownership.

Simon Bland, associate at leisure property specialists Fleurets, now part of Graham + Sibbald, which acted for the vendor on the sale, said: “I’m delighted to have completed this transaction on behalf of our client, Mr Julian Leefe-Griffiths, who has operated the property for the past 13 years. The hotel is a fantastic fit for THE PIG and will be a tremendous asset to the town. As a local resident, it’s particularly rewarding to see this property, a pillar of the historic Pantiles, embarking on an exciting new chapter. I’d like to thank the team at Warners Solicitors and Andrew Theobold at ICHA Ltd Hospitality Consultants for their support throughout the transaction.”
