Planning consultancy Boyer has appointed Grant Leggett as managing director.

Leggett, who joined Boyer in 2011 and previously served as executive director, has been closely involved in the day-to-day leadership of the firm alongside fellow executive director Karen Charles.

His appointment as MD expands these responsibilities while providing continuity for the consultancy’s clients and staff ahead of executive chair Andrew Williams’ retirement at the end of 2026.

Charles will remain executive director and Andrew Williams, who has been with Boyer for more than 20 years, will continue as executive chair until the end of the year.

Leggett said: “Planning is fundamentally about people – both the communities affected by development and the teams responsible for delivering it. One of the things I have valued most at Boyer has been the opportunity to build a talented team while remaining closely involved with clients and projects.

“Boyer has changed considerably since I joined in 2011, but the principle of providing practical, trusted planning advice has remained constant. Karen and I have already been working closely on the day-to-day running of the business and my new role gives us a strong platform from which to continue its development.”

Williams added: “I am very pleased that Grant has taken the role of managing director. He knows Boyer, our clients and our people exceptionally well and has already played an important part in leading the business. His appointment therefore brings real continuity. He has been closely involved in the day-to-day running of Boyer for some time and I am confident that he will provide strong leadership as the business moves into its next chapter.”
