Solihull-based developer BPG is seeking £112.5m from a forward funding partner for Oasis, its Birmingham city centre BTR site.
Plans were submitted in June 2021 for the 456-unit, 11-storey scheme on Gooch Street North, in the city’s Chinatown and Theatreland, for 178 one-bed, 268 two-bed apartments and 10 duplex apartments. The scheme also has two commercial units on the upper ground floor, spanning 5,207 sq ft.
The development is near the new Smithfield Market Quarter. In January, Lendlease submitted plans for the massive £1.9bn redevelopment of the Smithfield Market site for 3,500 homes in the area with almost 1.3m sq ft of shops and workspace.
Hannah Badger, partner in the residential investments team at Knight Frank, which is acting for BPG, said: “Birmingham Southside is currently undergoing a huge amount of exciting regeneration and redevelopment, which is totally transforming this part of the city centre.
“Oasis will deliver an additional 456 purpose-built and professionally managed rental homes for Birmingham, which are highly sought-after yet significantly undersupplied, especially in the city centre.”
The site is currently being demolished and cleared to pave the way for the development work to commence.
