British Land has appointed David Walker as the company’s new chief financial officer (CFO).
Walker, who has been chief operating officer and an executive committee member at British Land since 2021, will join the board as an executive director and become CFO of the company on 20 November 2024, when current CFO Bhavesh Mistry will step down.
Walker joined British Land in 2017 and was previously head of investor relations and served as Interim CFO of the company from November 2020 to July 2021.
He qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC, before spending more than seven years in various roles within the corporate finance division at Deutsche Bank. After that, he worked for more than 10 years in investor relations, strategy, finance and corporate development roles within UK listed businesses.
Simon Carter, chief executive officer of British Land, said: “I am delighted David will be joining the board as CFO. He has delivered significant value and efficiencies as our chief operating officer and is ideally placed to bring his experience to again lead our expert finance team as we capitalise on the strong momentum in the business.”
Walker added: “It’s a privilege to join British Land’s board and become CFO at such an important and exciting time for our business. I will be relentlessly focussed on ensuring British Land is in the best place to take full advantage of the many opportunities we see in our markets.”
