Global urbanism practice Broadway Malyan has appointed Lydia Firminger to lead the firm’s international architecture team based in the London studio.

Prior to joining Broadway Malyan, Firminger worked for a number of high-profile firms, including Leslie Jones Architecture, ARCADIS, KPF and Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.

In her new role, she will focus on pre-concept and concept design ideas and work in collaboration with the practice’s international masterplanning team.

Ian Apsley, global CEO of Broadway Malyan, said: “Lydia’s appointment is part of our ongoing drive to strengthen Broadway Malyan through bringing a new generation of talented people into the firm at all levels. Lydia’s skills as a designer and leader, as well as two decades of experience in practice, is an important part of this bringing senior oversight of and input into the international projects that are being run from our London studio.

“Her passion for retail and hotel design adds an extra dimension to our architectural skillset in the UK and complements the depth of experience we have across the world.”

Firminger added: “I am thrilled to join the international architecture team at Broadway Malyan and can’t wait to contribute to a varied and innovative global design portfolio. I am eager to leverage my passion for colour, texture, and materiality to craft a genuine sense of ‘place’ that resonates with our clients as well as the ultimate users of buildings around the world.”
