Capital&Centric has unveiled its vision for the residential-led development of the iconic Cannon Brewery site in Sheffield.
The developer intends to deliver a blend of 252 design-led apartments in phase one of approximately 500 homes at the former brewery, which closed in 1999.
The development will also feature co-working space, a residents’ lounge, a new urban park and space for independents cafes and bars.
The historic brew house will be preserved and reimagined into office space with F&B space on the ground floor. The brewery’s iconic water tower will be restored and sit at the centre of the urban park.
Tom Wilmot, joint managing director of Capital&Centric, said: “This is a big moment for Cannon Brewery. We’ve been busy clearing the site and now can show everyone what’s coming and we think it’s going to be pretty special. We’re not building somewhere people sleep and leave. The cinema, the co-working, the lounge and bags of green space – all that stuff is what turns a site into a community. Somewhere you bump into your neighbours and with a proper buzz. Add in cafés and workspace on the doorstep and you’ve got a neighbourhood Neepsend can be proud of. We can’t wait to crack on.”
Capital&Centric is working with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and Sheffield City Council to deliver the regeneration project, which received £11.67m from the combined authority’s brownfield housing fund.
