Carter Jonas has implemented a strategic restructuring of its planning and development division to align with the firm’s five-year growth plan.

Under the leadership of Colin Brown, head of planning and development at Carter Jonas, the newly structured division now features four business units: planning consultancy; development consultancy; development agency and masterplanning and urban design.

Katy Davis (pictured), head of planning in London, has been promoted to national head of planning; Jon Pinkerton has been promoted to national head of development consultancy; James Cordery has been promoted to national head of development agency; and Jonny Clayton will continue in his role as national head of masterplanning and urban design.

Carter Jonas has also restructured its planning and development board with Brown joined by the lead partners from the four business units.

Several other leadership changes have been made to support the planning and development division’s operational capabilities and strategic direction.

Huw Mellor, who is based in Carter Jonas’ Oxford office, will assume the role of head of planning south from Steven Sensecall, who has retired from his role as a partner, but remains with the business as a consultant. Alongside his national role, James Cordery will also lead development south, working out of Oxford, Bristol and Winchester.

In Cambridge, Paul Belton has been promoted to head of planning and development east and will work closely with Dominic Bryant, a newly appointed partner who leads the development land team.

Brown said: “The creation of these new business units will enhance operational efficiency, promote resource sharing, and generate exciting new opportunities for our team and the wider business. Our clients will benefit from a comprehensive service that combines local market intelligence with our proven national capabilities.”
